These are — as near as I can tell — my great-grandmother Helena de Wit’s identification papers from 1944, complete with photo, fingerprint, and address.

  1. Her profession (“beroep” in Dutch) is “pensionhoudster”. This means she kept a guesthouse. I found a advertisement of her in a newspaper of 17 july 1944.

    • I’m mistaken: the advertisement is not for Lenie’s guesthouse. It is for another housenumber in the same street.
